£28,249 - £30,351 (Whole Year working)
Based at Kinross Primary School

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time (36 hour), full year, Early Years Family Learning Practitioner to take on the role of family learning and parental engagement within the Kinross community. This post is based at Kinross Primary School and will also cover other settings in the Kinross ELC community.

The earliest years of life are crucial to a child’s development and have a lasting impact on outcomes in health, education and employment opportunities later in life.

Perth & Kinross aim to ensure that all families have access to high quality family learning within the early years which ensures that parents/carer can support their children and equip them to grow up healthy, happy, attaining and achieving.

Family learning encourages family members to learn together, with a focus on intergenerational learning. Family learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s learning.

The successful candidate will have a creative way to develop positive relationships with families through organising a range of family learning opportunities in the local community.

These may include:

- Peep Learning Together Programme.

- Eat Well Play Well.

- Bookbug.

- Incredible Years.

- Peep Progression Pathway.

- Love Learning About Money Together.

- Play on Pedals.

The successful candidate will work directly with parents and families (collectively and individually), to ensure parents/carers can support their children's learning and development at home.

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will be held week beginning 17 or 24 June 2024.

Requirements

You should hold an appropriate qualification e.g. SNNEB, NNEB, HNC, SCQF level 7 equivalent or SVQ 3 in Childcare and Education or SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People).

The Individual

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and commitment to working with families in a professional capacity.

The successful candidate must have:

• Previous experience supporting families in an ELC setting, as well as having an understating of national and local policies and frameworks to develop this work further.

• Experience and skills in working with parents, young people or children.

• Experience in assisting in the engagement, development and delivery of community based learning (organising groups and delivering learning programmes).

• A commitment to working towards the concept of inclusion.

• IT and computer skills.

• Interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively with others

• Experience of effective team working.

• A flexible approach and be able to work at various times, locations and situations.

• A current driving licence and have access to a vehicle, as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

• Experience and skills in group work.

• Previous training in Peep Learning Together, Solihull Approach – Foundation, however not essential as training can be provided.

• An understanding of the importance of play
