You will assist the Senior Engineer in the Roads Maintenance Partnership (RMP) to improve the Councils resilience to flood events by providing support and advice for a wide range of flood risks and drainage matters across a number of service areas. When necessary, be the support officer on location in the event of any flooding events and supervise the immediate response to these events in accordance with the appropriate legislation, recommended standards and Council and Roads Policy. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of various flood inspection/SUD’s databases and be responsible for the maintenance and management of all aspects of the Council Flood Alleviation schemes. The RMP service as a whole is responsible for a wide range of technical work and staff may be required to carry out other tasks within the department, compatible with their abilities, as its priorities might require.

The Individual

Requirements: Ideally have experience within a Local Government Roads Authority environment; Knowledge of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009; Knowledge of legislation and procedures/guidance relevant to Flood Risk Management; Knowledge of New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 and Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
You will have a Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area, or knowledge gained through relevant experience appropriate to the level of the post. As a minimum, Educated to HND/SVQ Level 4 in Civil Engineering or related discipline. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
