Perth Grammar School has a roll of 730 pupils. We currently have a vacancy for a Pupil Care and Welfare Officer.  The start date for this post is 12 August 2024.

The role of the Pupil Care and Welfare Officer is vital to supporting our young people and their families at Perth Grammar School.

The main responsibilities attached to this role are as follows:

• Develop positive relationships with young people while promoting our ethos and values;
• Be a first point for contact or pupils on routine issues;
• Early identification and de-escalating of potential situations which may lead to challenging behaviour;
• Liaising with and relaying messages to guidance colleagues;
• Improve attendance and late coming by monitoring attendance data and patterns, liaising with pupils and parents as appropriate. Undertake associated administrative duties with this task;
• Support young people in attending and returning to class;
• Help to maintain the safety of pupils arriving/leaving school and during interval and lunchtime;
• Encourage respect for the school environment;
• Make contact with parents on routine matters;
• Groupcall absence messaging;
• Follow up on unexplained absences;
• Early identification of attendance issues and support for young people and families;
• Supporting the wearing of school uniform;
• Undertake any other duties or associated admin that will support the wellbeing of young people as directed by the Depute Head Teacher.
