This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified person to join the Transportation & Development Team in the Planning & Development service at Perth & Kinross Council.

The successful candidate will join the Transportation & Development Team to play a key role in our journey to sustainable, inclusive mobility. The role will see you working alongside colleagues and external partners to deliver our programme of sustainable transport projects and support sustainable development across the council area. Your main responsibilities will include:
-Development and delivery of sustainable transport projects associated with emerging Mobility Strategy, Climate Change Action Plan and regional and national transport policies
-Develop proposals to secure funds from external sources such as Transport Scotland's Active Travel Infrastructure Fund, and oversee the administration of ongoing funding agreements for active travel and sustainable transport infrastructure.
-Assessment of planning applications for transport implications and compliance with local, regional and transport strategy
-Providing technical input and oversight of the Road Construction Consent Process
-Attendance at Committee as and when required

 

Requirements

Essential: • Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering/Transportation • Knowledge and understanding of road construction standards and design guidance • Knowledge and understanding of successful project delivery • Knowledge and experience of the Roads Scotland Act in private or public sector • Excellent IT skills and experience of MS Office, or similar • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills • Ability to work on your own initiative, using good judgement • Ability to prioritise workloads • Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
• Experience of successfully working as a member of a team and have strong customer focus • A full UK driving licence
Desirable: • Professional membership of relevant professional institute • Experience in sustainable transport and/or placemaking policy and project work • Experience of dealing with consultants and senior management • Experience of engaging with the public at public meetings and consultation events • Broader experience of transport sector • Experience of liaising and of working collaboratively within and across sectors
