You will be responsible for undertaking all compliance functions including vehicle and operators compliance, training operations, risk assessments, tachograph monitoring, tracker operation and reporting and also for the provision of detailed information to ensure safe operation of the council fleet is maintained for all vehicles, users and passengers. You will ensure that all quality assurance, compliance and vehicle/driver checks are undertaken at pre-planned points throughout the year and undertake technical assessments of vehicle mechanical, electrical and material condition to ensure compliance of Council fleet with DVSA safe working standards. In addition, you will investigate insurance, driver related incidents and to be responsible for enforcement actions within compliance across the Council. It is essential that you are a qualified time-served technician with relevant post qualification experience and have an IOSH managing safely qualification. You will have front line management experience as well as experience of working in both an office and workshop environment and have effective IT skills across a range of software packages. A full driving license is essential for this post. It is desirable that you have experience of auditing as well as tachograph monitoring and delivering training. Knowledge of personnel practise including supporting attendance is further desired. If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
