Renfrewshire Council recognises the crucial role SMEs play within the local economy and has developed a range of support programmes designed to encourage job creation and business growth.
We are looking for a highly motivated person who is seeking a challenging role within a busy economic development environment. Working as part of a team you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused business service to sustain and grow business activities in the tourism sector. Customers will access the service through requests for assistance, proactive promotion of services and opportunities available and referrals from other agencies.
The ideal candidate will have some previous experience in an economic development role or similar client facing role where you advised tourism related businesses in a support capacity helping them to realise their growth potential.
You must have effective oral and written communication skills including report writing.; be a highly driven and enthusiastic individual; have the ability to manage both your time and your workload; have a knowledge and understanding of finance and ICT with effective analytical skills and be self motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative.
A degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline is essential. Premier Adviser or SFEDI business adviser qualification is also essential.
It is desirable that you have; experience of working with the public and private sectors; an ability to negotiate with and influence companies and have an understanding of the challenges facing the tourism sector.
A driving licence is desirable. Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding up until 31st March 2025 or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
