An opportunity has arisen for a motivated person within the Communities & Public Protection service. Reporting to the Serious Organised Crime &; Trading Standards Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of statutory and non-statutory functions within Team, in particular in relation to Licensing, Certification and Registration of businesses.
As a Fair Trading & Licensing Officer, you will assist in the delivery of the licensing and fair trading functions of the Team. This will include (but is not limited to) investigating complaints, mediating in licensing disputes, utilising enforcement powers in line with our integrated enforcement policy, and reporting offences to the Procurator Fiscal if required. You will also be involved in providing advice and guidance to members of the public, other Council departments, Elected Members and external bodies.
You will have a background in a Licensing (Liquor or Civic) or Trading Standards environment, although other regulatory fields may be considered. In addition you will have Experience in multi-disciplinary project work as well as experience of partnership working and liaising with various agencies. Effective skills in both verbal and written communications are desirable.
Flexible working patterns (including a reduction in hours) are negotiable. You will be required to participate in the Communities & Public Protection out of hours standby service.
