Environment, Housing & Infrastructure is seeking to fill a Recycling Officer position within Waste Services. Reporting to the Lead Recycling Officer, you will work with the Waste Strategy and Business Team in the development of recycling and waste reduction initiatives to support the priorities set within the Zero Waste Plan (Scotland) and Circular Economy bill.

You will assist in the monitoring, development and implementation of waste recycling projects and initiatives to support the Council’s Waste Strategy and meet statutory targets and obligations set within the Zero Waste Plan (Scotland). You will be responsible for the development of new community recycling, reuse, and waste awareness projects across Renfrewshire. To promote all aspects of sustainable waste management and assist in the administration, development, and implementation of waste and recycling services for the council.

You will assist in the collation, analysis and reporting of management information as well as delivery of national recycling targets and statutory landfill diversion targets.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who applies methodical and analytical thinking in their role.

You must hold a HNC in a relevant discipline, be willing to work towards this or appropriate relevant experience.

It is essential you have a proven track record of working in a performance management role with demonstrable experience of management information systems and I.T skills including the use of Microsoft packages, in particular Excel as well as being an effective communicator with written, numeracy and verbal skill as well as having report writing and presentation skills.

Knowledge of the waste industry, circular economy, and the zero-waste plan (Scotland) is also essential.

The ability to work on your own initiative to meet deadlines and to develop effective working partnerships is an integral part of this role as is the ability to collate information, produce management reports and deliver presentations.

A current driving licence is desirable.
