Who we are:

Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

What we do:

Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Council areas in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists and Registers of Electors.

To provide high quality, effective and responsive services to all our stakeholders.

Who are we looking for:

You will be responsible for the survey and valuation of all lands and heritages in a designated geographical area, for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992. You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, and when required appearing as an expert witness to provide professional opinion at First and Second Tier Tribunals.

Applicants should be a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty) and preferably have knowledge and/or experience in valuation for Rating and Council Tax, with the ability to survey and value all lands and heritages. Applicants must be computer literate and have the ability to meet service users needs through excellent customer service.

You should have well-developed analytical, valuation and negotiation skills and effective written/oral communication skills, including report writing. Well-developed literacy, numeracy and good record keeping qualities are also required. You will have excellent communication and team working skills and a positive, professional, responsible attitude, coupled with the ability to multi-task, whilst ensuring strict deadlines are achieved. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually.

To be considered for the senior valuer role, significant practical experience in general surveying is essential as well as preparation of proposal/appeal cases and appearance at a formal hearing as an expert witness. Strong technical/valuation skills and the ability to lead a team and manage staff is also essential.

A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes is essential for both roles.
