Role Purpose

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Scottish Borders Council as a Modern Apprentice (MA) to support business change and improving the way the Council works and communicates with the communities we serve.

You will work as a member of a cross department team involved in the improvement of our corporate communications, website and media channels. You should have a passion for social media, and a keen interest in technology and how content is created, managed and analysed to provide insights and useable data to support services and Council business.


Modern Apprenticeships provide an opportunity to "learn while you earn" and offer an entry point in to the employment market, with this role offering an opportunity to explore the exciting world of digital marketing within a supportive and dynamic team, which is committed to fostering talent through educational pathways.


As this is an apprentice post the job holder will be required to work in various areas and departments throughout the organisation to develop skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of Digital Marketing. This will be via on the job training and formal training sessions to establish knowledge and understanding.

As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to engage with a training provider to obtain the desired qualification of a SCQF 6 Digital Marketing and have regular meetings with the supervisor and/or assessor.

In accordance with Scottish Borders Councils priorities, you will need to be aged 16-24 (at the point of starting the Apprenticeship) to qualify for this position.
