Role Purpose

1. Undertake a range of activities within a business administration team, understanding the operating environment and priorities, in order to provide assistance and decisions in response to issues which supports Senior Managers and Officers, to provide solutions to their business needs in line with corporate policy.

2. Under the direction of the Business Services Officer, deliver a wide range of secretarial, clerical and administrative functions in line with procedures, guidelines, high standards of customer care and best practice in order to assist the delivery of efficient and professional services.

3. Maintain a high level of service knowledge to enable you to provide information to customers. Act as an initial point of contact , where possible answering enquiries and if not passing them on to specific officers to ensure that the enquiry is dealt with appropriately and to the satisfaction of the customer. Ensure that all enquiries are handled in line with guidelines and high standards of customer care and best practice.

4. Liaise with people at all levels both within the Authority and with outside bodies.

5. Work within a Team ensuring high standards of performance and customer service at all times, attending any training offered to enable the required standards of skills and knowledge to deliver the role effectively.

6. Maintain awareness of current work and issues within the Service in order to refer Elected Members and others to the appropriate designated specialists for any matter, ensuring the most effective use of expertise and providing sound advice and information.

7. Contribute to the development of streamlined processes and procedures in order to achieve an efficient, cost effect and customer focused support service.

8. Work flexibly according to the needs of the Team, providing cover for colleagues as necessary.

9. Ensure that all work and outputs comply with, and promote equal opportunities and diversity.

10. Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, other employees and anyone else who may be affected by their work activities carried out. Employees shall work in accordance with policies, procedures, information, instruction and/or training received.

Essential

• Good general education level, including 3 standard grades or demonstrable equivalent work experience and training
