Salary: £16,743.45 - £17,624.34 per annum

Hours: 27.5, term time only

 

Role Purpose

Berwickshire High School is seeking a dependable and relationship-focused Outreach Pupil Support Assistant to work with young people experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance. This full-time, term-time post will support pupils both in school and across agreed outreach settings, helping them reconnect with learning and strengthen links between home and school.

Working under the direction of the Outreach Teacher and school leadership, you will support planned learning activities, establish predictable routines, help pupils develop confidence and independence, and contribute to individual engagement and wellbeing plans. The role may also involve accompanying pupils to approved community learning, wider-achievement, work-experience or transition opportunities.

You will need patience, consistency, sound boundaries and the ability to remain calm when plans change. You should be comfortable working across settings, keeping accurate records, sharing relevant information appropriately and following safeguarding and risk-management procedures. Experience supporting young people with additional support needs, anxiety, disrupted attendance or within outreach, youth-work or family-support settings would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will require PVG Scheme membership for regulated work with children.
