Advertisement Details

The role of the Library Assistant is to provide services and assistance to Shetland Library users of all ages and abilities. This is a busy customer service job, mainly working on our service desks. Day to day work will include helping people with reading choices, computers and e-services, and dealing with queries in person, by phone or email. There is also a significant amount of moving, sorting and shelving books. In addition, Library Assistants participate in a range of duties such as the processing of book reservations or new stock, helping to run events, Bookbug or story times and creating displays and promotions. Work may be assigned in public and school library branches or at library outreach events.

  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4202 per hour
