Job Description
Director Housing, Operations and Development
£113,628 per annum (pay award pending)
South Ayrshire has a wealth of local heritage and culture, first class leisure amenities, worldwide travel links, diverse landscapes and thriving communities.
As a Council, we take pride in delivering services that are both efficient and progressive, but we want to do better and to continue to do better as we move in unprecedented times of financial constraints and increasing demands.
For the successful candidate, it is a critical time as we implement and deliver the ambitions for South Ayrshire, as set out in our Council Plan 2023 - 2028 as we continue to manage the challenging economic climate and focus our priorities to adapt to the needs of a rapidly changing environment.
We are looking for a Director who can provide leadership, vision, and direction to develop and implement strategic plans; ensure the effective management and governance of the Council; and encourage and enable a positive organisational culture of empowerment, creativity and innovation which challenges existing ways of work, promotes improvement and rewards success.
This role will provide the strategic leadership to specific service areas and will therefore require an exceptional, extensive record of accomplishment and experience of working at a senior level. Applicants will require experience of driving large scale transformational change programmes along with a high level of political awareness and the personal credibility to quickly gain respect and influence with both internal and external stakeholders.
This is a full-time, permanent position, 35 hours per week. Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 this post is Politically Restricted.
The selection process will take place week beginning 23 October 2023.
For an informal, confidential discussion about this position, please contact Mike Newall, Depute Chief Executive and Director of Housing, Operations and Development on 01292 616231.
Closing date for applications is 08 October 2023.
