Job Description

TECHNICAL OFFICER/PROPERTY SURVEYOR

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is keen to hear from talented property/surveying professionals, who are interested in pursuing a career in rating within one of the country’s most scenic regions.

The Assessor for Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Valuation Roll (all non-domestic properties in Ayrshire liable for business rates) and the Valuation List (all dwellings in Ayrshire liable for Council Tax).

We are offering you the opportunity to become part of our team and are interested in helping you develop your existing skills.

You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.

You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills with a positive, professional, and responsible attitude, coupled with the ability to multi-task. You should have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and ensure that strict deadlines are met.

We recognise the importance of working within a positive environment and offer outstanding terms and conditions, such as flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement and enrolment into an enviable local authority pension scheme.
