Job Description

We deliver an integrated design, contract and project management service based on strong links between our building Service and consultancy Service sections and private sector construction professionals and contractors therefore having the ability to interact constructively with a variety of stakeholders and partners is an essential requirement of the post.

Housing and Technical resources wish to appoint a Clerk of works to assist in the effective delivery of a comprehensive service to the council’s capital and revenue expenditure programme including Housing and non-housing projects.

To undertake this role, you will require to have a sound knowledge of Construction Technology. it is desirable that you have a proven track record in Inspection within a property / construction environment, you must be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative to ensure the highest standards and industry best practice. You will display professionalism and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Ideally you will have Membership of the institute of Clerk of works and Construction Inspectorate, but membership is not essential or an equivalent qualification to meet the demands of the role.

Due to the requirements of this post the ability to travel throughout South Lanarkshire is essential.

You will be required to work to pre-determined timescales and targets and will bring to the position a sound knowledge of new build and renovation projects, health and safety legislation. 

You should be able to work as part of a team and on an individual basis as well as having the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines consistently. 

You should demonstrate a commitment to the principles of customer care, while displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate previous experience of working to targets and pre-determined timescales along with an awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

As this post involves accessing the public services network, the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
