Job Description

Stirling Council seeks a Category Manager to support the Corporate Procurement function through strategic and operational procurement activity, which delivers best value and benefit across city, towns and all communities in the Council area.

This role will require excellent creative thinking skills, problem solving skills, collaborative working skills and communication skills. The post sits within the Corporate Procurement function, and the post holder will report directly into the Corporate Procurement Manager.

Within this function, you will lead a team of commercial and technical professionals on strategic sourcing activities for specific categories of spend achieving best value and delivering on savings targets while maintaining/improving quality and service levels.

As a subject matter expert you will have the skills and relevant experience to support and monitor the Council’s strategic commissioning and procurement activity efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, robust and transparent systems, while maintaining strong relationships. Recognising the challenges that local authorities face your decision making exemplary as you lead a team which meets increasing customer requirements, and is robust in delivering business needs.
