Job Description

THIS IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT.

In June last year we appointed a new Independent Chair for both the Adult and Child Protection Committees, and this year we have introduced new learning and development roles which will work as part of a team alongside Adult and Child Protection Lead Officers.

This post offers an opportunity to develop strategic planning and self‑evaluation approaches and to provide a key link between operational services and the Adult Protection Committee. The Lead Officer will play a key role in supporting effective governance arrangements and partnership working to ensure adults are protected from harm.

The team reports through Chief Social Work Officer oversight and works closely with the Committee, adult social work services and partner agencies.

We are seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic individual who understands the value of collaboration, underpinned by trauma‑informed practice and service user voice.

We would welcome applications from suitably experienced candidates from social work, Police, health or the Third Sector.

For an informal discussion, please contact Sharon.Laing@west-dunbartonshire.gov.uk.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
