Job Description

This is a fixed term post until 31/03/2025.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engineer to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within West Dunbartonshire Council Roads Services team.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the inspection and maintenance of a road network. You will work with the team to assist in the provision of all Roads Asset functions including : Roads Safety Inspections, Roads Maintenance Estimating and Design (including for footpath, carriageway and drainage works), Roads Maintenance Supervision for any scheme works (footpath, carriageway and drainage), inventory collection as well as all necessary financial and performance monitoring and reporting . You will support by issuing road works instructions and ensuring all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled in terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.
