Job Description

West Dunbartonshire Council is looking to recruit a new GIS Officer to join our Technical Support Team where you will be part of an enthusiastic and multi-skilled team. Located in West Central Scotland and part of the Glasgow City Region, the West Dunbartonshire area is a great place to live and work. The area includes the main towns of Clydebank, Dumbarton and Alexandria and is rich in history shaped by its world famous shipyards, the Kilpatrick Hills, iconic Titan Crane, Dumbarton Rock and Castle and unique waterfront sites and spectacular views.

Following deployment of our ArcGIS system, an important part of this role will be to introduce our exciting GIS platform across the organisation and directly support GIS users with its new functionality including promotion of the system to support data driven solutions and utilise the use of location (GIS) data corporately.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree level qualification in Geography / Town Planning or relevant subject and/or significant appropriate experience. You should have a sound working knowledge of web delivery and programming for GIS applications and will be responsible for the development, delivery and maintenance of our council wide GIS applications and services.

A positive attitude and excellent communication skills at all levels across the organisation are required for this role. You will possess good organisational and data management skills, the ability to prioritise your workload, work under pressure, work effectively as part of a team and have a strong commitment to continuous service improvement.
