Job Description

This is a re-advertisement.

We have a number of permanent and temporary vacancies available for immediate start and the new term in August 2023, at various education establishments across the West Dunbartonshire authority area. Contracted hours available range from 12.5 to 27.5 hours per week.

Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives? Would you enjoy working in a supportive environment where you would be supporting West Dunbartonshire’s young people on their learning journey? We have exciting opportunities for highly motivated, flexible individuals to join our team of Learning Assistants; you would be working in one of our mainstream settings, assisting our Teachers to provide mainstream and additional support needs children a stimulating and rewarding learning environment. This role offers you the chance to contribute to the quality of care and welfare of our pupils, assist our Teaching team to ensure that teaching resources are organised and used effectively and support our pupils to access the curriculum.

If you have experience of supporting children with additional support needs whether that is in a personal capacity, a voluntary capacity or in a paid capacity and have a good level of admin/IT skills, we want to hear from you.

In return you will receive relevant training and support from a committed team with access to a wide range of employee benefits including mental health and financial wellbeing supports including discounts to the national supermarkets and retailers as well as local retailers and schemes like our cycle to work scheme. In addition, our employees enjoy generous annual leave entitlement and a fantastic pension scheme that significantly adds to the overall financial package on offer.

Whilst we do have some parameters that we need to work around, our Learning Assistants are key to supporting transition times such as school start/finish times, we are happy to discuss any needs you may have in relation to flexible working.
