Job Description

West Dunbartonshire Council is a leading Scottish Council in its approach to support high quality placemaking. An exciting opportunity has arisen to act as a "Place Champion " for the Council embracing and advocating a place based approach and delivering on the outcomes of NPF4 in achieving health and well-being, reducing inequality and creating well designed quality places.

As the Placemaking Co-ordinator you will provide placemaking advice to the planning service and to other services in the council in terms of development sites, regeneration projects and planning policy matters. You will also be responsible for the operation and management of the nationally recognised Place and Design Panel.

West Dunbartonshire has been leading research in the development of 20 minute neighbourhood mapping tool and the Placemaking Co-ordinator would be responsible for ongoing research and management of the mapping tool.

In recent years, there has been significant investment and regeneration in the area helping to open up the Clyde Waterfront with the Queen Quay site and the Council's City Deal Project at Exxon Bowling. There are more opportunities to unlock and bring forward.

The successful candidate requires to have energy, vision and a track record of success. Requiring skills to engage and influence early in the development process to ensure that place-based approaches are embedded as early as possible to ensure high quality development.

Educated to degree level in Architecture, Urban Design, Planning or a relevant subject is an essential criteria for the post.

The postholder will work out of our award winning offices at 16 Church Street Dumbarton however there will be opportunities for flexible or mobile working.
