We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged

West Lothian Council are seeking a motivated and dynamic assistant house manager to work across their two residential houses.  You will be part of a management group which includes another assistant houses manager, manager and group manager.  You will provide day to day supervision and support to residential care officers and locum staff to enable the care they are providing to be built on stable, nurturing and loving relationships.   West Lothian Council are committed to keeping the promise and you will have an important role in developing relationship based care.

You will work closely with our young people to ensure that their voices are heard and they are enabled to share their views and have their rights maintained.  One of our principles is in working together with young people, their families and the other support mechanisms that are around them.  You will have at least 2 years experience of working in a residential childcare setting or other children and families setting and have the ability to work with young people in crisis in a trauma informed way.   As you will be expected to support the houses in the absence of the houses manager at times, it would be desirable that you have previous experience of managing staff in a regulated setting and working alongside the care inspectorate.   It will be necessary for you to have knowledge of working in a child protection context to be able to support staff members and young people.   The houses operate 365 days per year 24 hours a day and you will be expected to provide management cover across the rota at times.   There will be a shift allowance paid.

You require to have gained an SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 9 or an equivalent practice qualification (or be willing to gain this within the timescales stipulated by the SSSC) and also be registered with SSSC or gain registration within 6 months.

Should you wish to have an informal conversation, please contact Laura Cain, Group Manager on -07824362445
