East Calder Primary School and ELC is a non-denominational school serving the village of East Calder and the surrounding community. The school sits within the West Calder High School cluster. At present, the total school roll is 358 pupils including a nursery provision for up to 74 children in the morning/afternoon and full day sessions.
There are 18 members of teaching staff, 2 EYOs and 16 staff within our Nursery Team, 3 specialists – Drama, PE and Technology and a team of 8 pupil support workers who also work directly with the children. The school management team consists of the head teacher; depute head teacher and principal teacher. The school shares a business support manager with the other schools in the cluster. The school has achieved level 2 of the Right Respecting Schools Award and is has Eco Green flag award and Fair Trade status.
At East Calder Primary and ELC, you will become part of a hardworking and committed staff team. The postholder will work Monday – Thursday 8.15am – 4pm (45 min unpaid break) Friday 8.15 – 12.45 (15 min unpaid break).supporting staff working in early level with children on pathway 3.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. Also requires SSSC registration as a practitioner.
