30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, fixed term to 10 August 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our vibrant learning community within Deans North Nursery.  The nursery is based within Deans Community High School and provides places for children aged 2 to 5 years over 38 weeks from 8.30am – 4 pm Monday to Thursday.

Our values develop the four capacities within Curriculum for Excellence and support every learner in their wellbeing and development.  Our core values are Trust, Respect, Kindness and Independence.  We aim to provide a welcoming, caring and nurturing environment where we are passionate in providing opportunities for our children to grow and learn.  Our children enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences and visit the forest area near to the nursery on a weekly basis. 

One of the key strengths within Deans North Nursery is the culture of collegiate working and it is within that ever-strengthening culture of continuous improvement that the nursery will work together with the whole school community, to take forward identified priorities.

The ELC Practitioner role will have a clear focus on leading and delivering high quality learning experiences for all of our children within Deans North Nursery. The successful candidate will follow West Lothian Council policies.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the West Lothian Council

This position requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.
