West Lothian Council are looking for an individual committed to supporting children young people and their family’s mental wellbeing needs arising from neurodivergence. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people and they will be joining a committed and supportive team. This is a fixed term post until 31st March 2025.

The post holder will embed the values and principles of the Community Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports and Services Framework in practice within West Lothian which ensures we tackle inequalities and give children and young people in West Lothian the best possible start in life.

You’ll bring excellent relationship-building, communication, and organisational skills, as well as be able to work on your own initiative and collaboratively with partners.

You will have proven experience of working with children, young people and families, particularly those with needs arising from neurodivergence that require support with their mental wellbeing. You will be expected to provide support and co ordinate young people and families access to the services available in the community. These posts will also involve planning and carrying out a range of activities to suit the interests of the children and young people referred to the service. We expect all staff to be proactive and forward planning in this area to ensure the families have access to a wide range of activities.

You will have knowledge and experience of using participatory approaches that allows young people to engage at all levels of the decision making, design and delivery of services.

An HNC or an SVQ Level III in Social Care or other relevant qualification and experience is required.

This post will require the post holder to work flexibly out with office hours. It will require routine some evening and weekend work.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
