St Joseph’s Nursery class is seeking to appoint a nurturing and motivated pupil support worker.  The successful candidate will have a positive approach to working with children and will assist ELC staff in raising the standards of pupil attainment by providing general support in relation to the needs of the nursery and the individuals’ care, health and wellbeing and safety; to ensure a secure and safe environment.

Candidates should be solution focussed with an understanding of supporting pupils within an educational setting and how to foster positive relationships. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  You will be required to work effectively as part of our ELC team and plan, evaluate and report on children’s progress to the wider team.

This position requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.  SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date.  If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
