Supervising Social Worker – Family Based Care Service x 4 posts

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the new Family Based Care Service as a Supervising Social Worker. There are currently four vacancies within the service. Whilst all Supervising Social Workers within the service may work across all aspects of the service, the current vacancies are for two Supervising Social Worker posts, with an Intensive Fostering Lead and two Supervising Social Workers with an Adoption Lead.
Within these roles you will work as part of a continuum of provision to develop and sustain a flexible range of family-based care options which meets the needs of children, young people and their families. You will work as part of our Family Based Care Service to assess, train, recruit and support foster and adoptive carers and contribute to the development of the service and Post-Adoption supports. The team work closely with colleagues in local teams and with a variety of internal and external agencies and disciplines. You will also develop and sustain a range of adult family-based care options which meets the needs of young people who may have been Looked After by the Local Authority. This will Involve the recruitment, assessment and supervision/support of foster carers. You will also be responsible for assessing kinship carers, ensuring that all legislative requirements are met and the relevant supports are implemented and maintained.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment
