Little Flyers Nursery – Broxburn
Lead with passion. Make a difference. Help us shape the future of early years.

Are you an experienced Early Years professional who is ready to lead a team, inspire others and make a real difference to children, families and the wider early years sector?

At Little Flyers Nursery in Broxburn, we’re looking for a passionate, motivated and forward-thinking Early Years Manager to lead our nursery, support our team and help us continue to deliver exceptional care and learning experiences for our children.

We’re a family-run company, and that means something to us. We believe the best nurseries are built on strong relationships, supportive leadership and a genuine understanding of the people who make them special. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We want our managers to feel heard, valued and empowered to make positive changes.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than manage a nursery day to day. We want a leader who will take ownership, bring fresh ideas, challenge the norm when needed and help us shape a better future for early years.

What will you be responsible for?

As Early Years Manager, you will take the lead in the overall management, development and success of the nursery. You’ll be responsible for creating a positive culture where children thrive, staff feel supported and families feel confident in the care we provide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the team: Inspire, motivate and support your team, creating a positive working environment where practitioners feel valued, listened to and encouraged to develop.
  • Driving quality and improvement: Take ownership of the nursery’s quality of care and education, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring we continually strive to provide the best possible experiences for children.
  • Managing nursery operations: Oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring effective organisation, appropriate staffing, smooth routines and high standards throughout.
  • Supporting and developing staff: Lead supervision, appraisals, professional development and performance management, helping team members build confidence, develop their skills and reach their full potential.
  • Building strong family partnerships: Develop trusting relationships with parents and carers, actively listening to their feedback and working in partnership with them to meet the needs of every child and family.
  • Ensuring compliance and safeguarding: Maintain high standards of health and safety, child protection, record keeping and regulatory compliance, including the relevant Care Inspectorate requirements.
  • Managing occupancy and sustainability: Support nursery growth, occupancy, budgets and resource planning, balancing the needs of families and children with the effective running of the business.
  • Working collaboratively: Communicate openly with the company Directors, sharing ideas, raising concerns and contributing to the wider development of Little Flyers.

Why join a family-run company?

We know that great managers need more than a job title. They need trust, support and the opportunity to make a difference.

At Little Flyers, we want you to have the freedom to lead, the confidence to share your ideas and the support to put positive changes into practice.

What makes us different?

  • Your voice matters. We want managers who will speak up, challenge existing ways of working and help us find better ways to support children, families and staff.
  • We believe in flexibility. We understand that every nursery and team is different. We’re open to listening, adapting and finding practical solutions that work for our people and the families we serve.
  • We listen to our teams. Happy, supported practitioners are at the heart of a successful nursery. We want you to build a culture where staff feel safe to share their views and are involved in decisions that affect them.
  • Families come first. We believe the best decisions are made by listening to families, understanding their circumstances and working together to meet their needs.
  • You can make a real impact. As a family-run business, we value relationships, open communication and new ideas. You won’t simply be expected to follow processes; you’ll have the opportunity to help shape them.

We’re looking for someone who shares our belief that the early years sector can always be better, and who wants to be part of making that happen.

About you

You’ll be a confident and capable leader who combines strong management skills with a genuine passion for early years education and childcare.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience leading and managing a nursery or early years setting, with the ability to motivate a team and take responsibility for its overall performance.
  • Has strong communication and people-management skills, including the confidence to have challenging conversations when needed.
  • Understands the importance of quality, safeguarding, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Can manage competing priorities, make informed decisions and take ownership of challenges.
  • Builds positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Is approachable, adaptable and willing to listen to different perspectives.
  • Has the confidence to bring new ideas forward and the drive to turn them into positive changes.
  • Is passionate about creating a workplace where practitioners feel supported and families feel genuinely valued.

You’ll also hold an appropriate early years qualification and meet the relevant registration requirements for the role in Scotland.

The opportunity

This is your chance to lead a nursery where your experience, ideas and leadership genuinely matter.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, lead with purpose and work for a company that believes in listening to its people, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and help us make Little Flyers Broxburn a place where children thrive, families feel supported and staff love what they do.

Interested? We’d love to have an informal conversation with you about the role and what you could bring to our team.
