Early Years Practitioner

Oban’s First Steps Day Nursery is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team.

We are a nurturing and inclusive nursery providing high-quality care and early learning experiences for children aged 7 months to 5 years. We are committed to creating a safe, stimulating and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and individual potential.

The Role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will work as part of our dedicated nursery team to provide a high standard of care, learning and development for children aged 7 months to 5 years.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing high-quality care and learning experiences that meet the individual needs of each child.
• Developing positive, nurturing and respectful relationships with children.
• Supporting children’s emotional, social, physical and cognitive development.
• Planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities and experiences.
• Observing, assessing and recording children’s learning and development.
• Supporting children to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships with others.
• Working in partnership with parents and carers to support children’s wellbeing and development.
• Maintaining a safe, welcoming, stimulating and inclusive environment.
• Working effectively as part of a professional early years team.
• Following all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and infection control.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement and development of the nursery.

An appropriate Scottish early years childcare qualification, such as an SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent, is desirable/required for this position.
