Are you passionate about improving services and enhancing user experience? This is an exciting opportunity to join Education Scotland’s Digital Services Team to work with the Team as Technical Product Manager to enhance products and services that we offer to our users.

Education Scotland has lead responsibility for the Digital Learning and Teaching (DLT) programme to deliver this vision. This national programme has over 100 customer organisations and works with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders many of whom are represented on the governance, advisory and supporting groups. The programme delivers and supports a range of new and evolving services and establishes and operates a number of technology related contractual arrangements for its growing customer and user base.

As Technical Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in in the Digital Services Team within Education Scotland, empowering, and providing peer support to people as they seek to use data more effectively to keep stakeholders informed.

This will include tasks to: Provide technical knowledge and experience of products to multi-disciplinary Agile delivery teams to facilitate positive changes; Take ownership of the product backlogs and prioritisation in line with the organisation’s strategy and vision and ensure that technical solutions and support meet user needs. The complexity or breadth of products or teams will vary in this role, depending on the context.

You will have a particular focus on the management, maintenance, support and promotion of digital services for our corporate products. This will include working on projects that create and deploy new products and functionality, in addition to management of business as usual platform administration processes.

***DDaT Pay Supplement:

This post attracts a £5000 DDAT pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. Pay supplements are temporary payments and are subject to regular review.

- Work with team members and others to apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques to delivery.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

Essential Criteria

1. Demonstrable experience in the role of Project Manager / Business Analyst or Technical Specialist delivering IT projects with a strong track record of completing quality projects on time.

2. A technical IT background and proven experience of managing supplier / stakeholder relationships across IT based projects.

3. Able to work on your own initiative and manage multiple work-streams/concurrent projects with the ability to manage internal/external resources, costs, schedules.

4. Technical knowledge and experience of digital services particularly around their back-end management and administration in addition to proven business analysis techniques. Technical experience could include working on:- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, WordPress, Salesforce, Atlassian tools, Azure or other cloud platforms.

Location -Hybrid Working

The post holder will be based in either of our Education Scotland offices in Glasgow, Livingston, Aberdeen or Dundee.

We are currently operating a hybrid working model where some time is spent in the office and some time is spent at home.

While staff are assigned to the base office, there may be a need for travel to other Scottish Government offices/other locations depending on assigned work.
