Job Description

Technician – Events AV/IT

0.5 FTE / 17.5 Hours
Based at Falkirk Campus
Permanent

The Department of Creative, Digital and Leisure Industries is looking for an experienced AV/IT Technician who specialises in Events Support. We run a large range of events, both internal and external that are hosted across all of our state of the art campuses. We are rapidly becoming one of the places to host events in the Forth Valley region and manage events ranging from 5 people to 500. Due to this rapid expansion, we require support from someone who is experienced in dealing with AV and IT in the area of Events. You will be customer facing at times, so must be pleasant, professional and an excellent communicator. You will be based predominantly at our Falkirk Campus and must be able to work alone and be self-motivated. Travel between all campuses will be a requirement of this role at times, as well as occasional evening and weekend work dependent on business requirements. You will work closely with the Sound Production Curriculum Manager, the Hospitality Business Development Manager and the college IT team to ensure we are delivering a first class service to internal and external guests and students.

You will have knowledge and experience of configuring and operating AV equipment for events including essential knowledge and experience of configuring and troubleshooting Audio and Video network protocols such as DANTE and DTP and integrating these across existing IT networks. Increasingly, we are hosting events which demand a mixture of on campus attendees and remote attendees and/or presenters, and/or require to be web streamed. Therefore you will also be fully conversant and experienced in the technologies required to deliver such events effectively. Using this crucial knowledge and experience, and working in liaison with our existing IT Team you will be able to provide a seamless, professional experience for event organisers and attendees alike. Other duties will include general AV support to our teaching teams who work across a range of specialist facilities including analogue and digital recording studios, sound reinforcement systems, radio production studios and digital video and photography equipment. Knowledge of Digital Audio Workstation and Video Editing Software would be an advantage.

You will be a dynamic, flexible, pro-active individual with excellent problem solving skills. You will be enthusiastic in your approach to supporting the work of staff, customers and students and using your excellent organisational skills, you will effectively manage the technical resources associated with the post.

*Pay award confirmed for 1 September 2024*
