The Information Services team provides centralised IT support to GCU academic and professional support departments across the University.
Working as part of the Information Security team and reporting to the Information Security Manager the successful candidate will play a key part in building and enhancing the information security landscape and culture within the University and will also assist in the development, implementation and delivery of initiatives which support the University’s program of continuous improvement of information and cyber security. Other key responsibilities will include incident response, risk management, vulnerability management, policy development and data protection impact assessments.
The successful candidate will have excellent IT and analytical skills (to include knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, hardware and security), an eye for detail and an understanding of risks, vulnerabilities and threats to IT systems and the measures required to mitigate them. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people using both formal and informal techniques are essential; as is an ability to work independently and as part of a pro-active and forward-thinking team and to build strong relationships with fellow staff members and other relevant individuals. An ability to exercise complete discretion, integrity and responsibility in dealing with highly confidential and commercially sensitive information is considered pre-requisite.
