Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Ref. No. L712)

Full Time/Permanent/Altens Campus

Salary:  £35,170.00 - £43,357.00 per annum (pay award pending – current offer additional £3.5K per annum)

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person with industry experience and a passion for teaching, who is keen to pass on their highly developed skills and knowledge to our Engineering students. 

 

The ideal candidate should be qualified to SCQF Level 7, VQ3 or equivalent level in Mechanical Engineering and have relevant industry experience, including turning and milling. CNC experience would be an advantage.

 

Experience of teaching and motivating learners to succeed would also be an advantage.

Experience of teaching is not essential but you will be contracted to obtain TQFE (Teaching Qualification in Further Education) once employment has commenced if you do not already hold a relevant teaching qualification.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. SCQF Level 7, VQ3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
2. *Working Knowledge of CAD
3. *Teaching qualification (TQFE or equivalent)
4. *Assessment/Verification qualification
5. *ECDL (European Computer Driving License)
6. *GTC registration

 

EXPERIENCE

1. Up to date industry experience in Mechanical Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering workshop experience.
3. *Teaching or training experience
4. *Assessment experience

 

KNOWLEDGE

1. Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering at technician level.
2. *Knowledge and/or experience of the use of electronic learning materials

 

SKILLS

1. Good communication skills

5. Ability to develop and use appropriate learning/teaching/training materials
