We are Hiring! For Primary Supply Teachers
Regius is an independent Christian school serving around 25-30 primary‑aged children, located near Edinburgh’s Newcraighall station. Established in 1986, the school’s vision is to provide “Christian Education to Transform a Generation.” With small class sizes, pupils are able to learn at a pace that suits them, and their unique gifts and abilities are recognised, nurtured, and developed within a caring and inspiring environment.
Our close‑knit team of professional Christian educators work collaboratively to ensure every child is supported educationally, physically, and spiritually. Alongside a strong commitment to academic excellence, Regius places high value on worship, prayer, and a culture of honour that underpins all aspects of school life.
We are seeking enthusiastic supply teachers to join our Christian school community. This role supports classes on an as‑needed basis, providing classroom cover when our permanent teaching staff are absent. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to high‑quality teaching, a flexible approach, and a willingness to uphold the school’s Christian values. The role could be ideal for a semi-retired teacher, someone working part-time, or an experienced teacher looking for occasional additional work while maintaining flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lessons across a range of subjects, following school plans, curriculum guidelines, and the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Prepare for teaching assigned classes and complete associated marking, recording, assessment, and reporting on pupil’s progress
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment rooted in Christian values, promoting pupils’ social, emotional, spiritual, and academic development.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and provide guidance to pupils on learning, personal development, and well‑being.
- Adapt quickly to different classes, year groups, and learning needs, ensuring continuity of learning and smooth transitions
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and other professionals, promoting safeguarding, pupil welfare, and high standards of teaching and learning.
- Contribute to the wider life and good order of the school, including participation in school planning, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.
Candidates will have experience of working with primary school children and a good understanding of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. A current Full Primary Education GTCS registration is essential. Successful applicants will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with Children. Experience supporting children with Additional Support Needs is also desirable.
We would love to give you the opportunity to apply your God-given talents and experience to lay solid educational foundations and enable every child to realise their full potential. If you would like to be a part of contributing to this caring and life-giving school, please contact us to schedule a meeting.
How To Apply
If you are interested in joining our team, we would love to hear from you. Please email the school office at office@regius.edin.sch.uk with your CV and a covering letter outlining why you would like to work at our school, how you would contribute to our Christian ethos, adding any relevant skills, experience or personal qualities you would bring to strengthen our school community.
