Following recent promotions, we are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of English to join the College. This post will become available from August 2026. This is a full-time, fixed-term, post for one school year in the first instance. This post may suit a probationer.

English is taught to all pupils in Years 1-4, with full presentation at National 5 in S4 and almost full presentation at Higher Level in S5. Classes are mixed ability in S1-3 and then set by attainment for the exam years where there is a strong record of attainment. It is expected that the successful candidate will teach a full range of classes from S1-5.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of English at the College through an ability to undertake successfully the following tasks:

  • To create an effective teaching and learning environment which offers support and encouragement to pupils;
  • To be involved in developing teaching materials, planning courses and identifying departmental priorities;
  • To maintain appropriate records of pupil performance and assessment;
  • To contribute to curricular developments;
  • To show commitment and enthusiasm in working as part of the departmental team.
