A vacancy for a Registered Nurse / Staff Nurse has arisen within St Aloysius’ College which is one of Scotland’s top independent day schools. This is a unique and rarely available term time role for a qualified nurse who is looking to balance family and work life and be off all school holidays. This role is suitable for nurses with at least 2yrs post registration experience and those looking for clinical experience for readmission to the NMC Register. We also welcome applications from those looking to consolidate role and skills (such as pre-retirement). You will work alongside a highly dynamic Senior Nurse and will gain ample opportunity to learn on-the-job and practice a variety of clinical consultation and health promotion tasks.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who feels confident working autonomously. This Staff Nurse role will provide a busy basic first aid and reactive treatment service, administer prescribed and OTC medications, advise on ill health and common infections, and help to improve the health and wellbeing of our young people. Occasionally there is a need to respond to an emergency. The role can include working alone for long periods and following nursing policy. Decision making capability needs to be at a level without reference to other clinicians. The role involves accurate record keeping and close liaison and communication with our Senior Nurse, Pastoral Care Team, Teaching Staff and Parents.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with minimum of 2yrs experience and a clear long-term commitment to the staff nurse / school nurse role. An interest in child health and wellbeing and upholding the values of an independent Jesuit / Catholic school is required. Whilst not essential, it would be ideal if candidates hold an NMC recordable Specialist Practitioner Nursing qualification. You must be enthusiastic, highly organised, self-motivated, and have the ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships at all levels. You will hold NMC Registration and validation and evidence of professional CPD / competence.
