The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have an excellent opportunity for an Equipment Support Operative within our busy Inverness Fleet and Equipment Workshops, North Service Delivery Area. The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, looking after a wide and varied range of specialised operational equipment.

This is a full time post 2 week rotating pattern, Team 1, Mon-Wed 08.00-17.30, Thurs 08.00-16.30. Team 2, Tues-Thurs 08.00-17.30, Fri 08.00-16.30.

Daily duties of the roll will include carrying out, service inspections, repairs and investigations on SFRS operational Fire fighting equipment. Working to standards as laid down by suppliers, manufacturers and CFOA (Chief Fire Officers Association). Candidates must have a recognised qualification in machinery/plant maintenance or a minimum period of 2 years transferable experience in a similar type of mechanical environment.

Applicants are required to have at least 2 years industrial mechanical experience and or certification in a similar mechanical environment. A full valid British driving licence is required and a flexible approach to travelling and working throughout SFRS locations. Further requirement of the role is to have a basic understanding of IT packages such as Word and Excel.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
