Trainee Technician (fixed term: 2 years)

Central Scotland Valuation Joint Board covers the Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Council areas. The Assessor for the Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Valuation Roll for Non-Domestic Rates and the Valuation List for Council Tax. The Assessor is also the Electoral Registration Officer for three Councils (Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire) and in that capacity is responsible for maintaining the Register of Electors and Absent Vote Lists. The Board employs approximately 45 people and our office is at Glendevon House, Castle Business Park, Stirling, FK9 4TZ.

We are looking to recruit a Trainee Technician to work within our Valuation Team for a fixed term period of 2 years.

Applications are invited from candidates who meet the entry entrance requirements for a suitable qualification in a property-based discipline, for example a NC in a related discipline, minimum one Higher level pass and relevant passes at Standard Grade, or Credit/National 5 in relevant subjects, including science/technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the survey and measurement of a wide range of property for rating and Council Tax purposes, to carry out valuations as required, to maintain property files and records to a high standard and to communicate effectively with ratepayers, taxpayers and other relevant contacts. During the fixed term period the successful candidate will be supported to undertake a suitable qualification in a property-based discipline.
