HR Officer

Salary – £29.163

Full-time 35.75h per week, fixed term July 2023 –August 2024

Location - Meadowbank Sports Centre

With that in mind, we are looking for a proactive people person with a passion for HR to join our team for 13 months of maternity cover as an HR Officer.

Working as a part of the HR team, on a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Provide guidance and advice to all employees on applying and interpreting HR policies and procedures. Support managers with absence and performance management investigations, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide support at meetings, maintain, and record minutes and prepare written reports regarding short and long-term sickness, disciplinaries, capabilities, grievances, redundancies, probations, flexible working requests, return to work meetings etc.
  • Maintain and update HR records and employee details, personnel files, sickness absence records, timekeeping, and payroll.
  • Support venue managers and the recruitment manager with recruitment and selection processes, and onboarding of successful candidates to always ensure adequate staffing.


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven record of accomplishment of successfully delivering in a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment, attendance management, onboarding, resource management and manager support/advice.
  • Empathetic, compassionate, and approachable personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to clearly convey information and ideas to people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to problem-solve and prioritize to strategically develop creative solutions.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to capture, store, and examine evidence in an objective manner.
  • Great listening skills, kind and understanding approach to handling difficult situations and highly sensitive information and data.

This is a hybrid role with time spent between our head office at Meadowbank, Edinburgh Leisure venues across the city and home working.
