Part-time permanent role, 16 hours a week​

Salary: £21,222 per annum, pro rata (£ 11.41 per hour)

Locations – Edinburgh Leisure cafes (Tumbles at Portobello, Meadowbank Sports Centre, Royal Commonwealth Pool, and Edinburgh International Climbing Arena: Ratho)

We are looking for a key player in our Café team at Edinburgh Leisure!

As a Senior Catering Assistant, you'll be the face of our cafes, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all customers. This hands-on position involves providing crucial support to our 4 Café Refresh locations, covering annual leave, sickness, last-minute shifts, and special events. The role requires flexibility as it spans both the front and back of the house, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment. While shifts are generally planned in advance, occasional adjustments may be necessary.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing excellent customer service while taking orders, serving customers, processing sales and operating tills.
• Preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold drinks, as well as food items such as soups, paninis, hot breakfasts, pizzas, and sandwiches.
• Assisting in monitoring and restocking supplies, such as food ingredients, utensils, and cleaning materials, to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Responding to and resolving customer enquiries, complaints, and comments.
• Supporting the Team Leader by effectively managing catering assistants, while setting an example of high performance and positive teamwork.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene certificate and barista training.
• UK Driving licence along with access to a vehicle.
• Previous hospitality experience demonstrating exceptional customer service.
• Experience in basic food preparation and food assembly to comply with Food Safety & HACPP.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage and connect with a varied customer base.
