AREA OFFICER (BASED IN GLASGOW)
£61,822 - £70,252pa + final salary pension + car/ car allowance
The EIS is Scotland’s largest and most influential trade union and professional organisation for teachers and lecturers, with almost 65,000 members working in all education sectors and at all career stages.
An opportunity has arisen to join our established Area Officer team in a permanent, full-time role. Duties of this post will include representation of individual members in grievance and disciplinary matters, recruitment and retention of members, training, negotiations with employers, and the provision of organisational support to the Institute’s local associations.
The post comes with the optional benefit of a car or car allowance, provided on the basis of the EIS car policy.
Applications from candidates with a background in teaching or lecturing are particularly welcome, as are those from candidates with previous or current involvement in a trade union.
The post will be based in the EIS Area Office in Glasgow and, initially, the geographical area for which the successful candidate will be responsible will be Local Authority areas to the West of Glasgow. However, the Institute has a Flexible Working Patterns policy, offering all members of staff a high degree of flexibility over the location at which work is carried out, subject to the overall requirements of the EIS and its members.
