Job Description

Personal Assistants (PAs) Wanted – Earlston

I am a friendly elderly gentleman living on the outskirts of Earlston with my wife, and I am looking for kind, caring and reliable Personal Assistants (PAs) to help me at home.

I have limited mobility and am receiving palliative care, so I need a little extra help with my daily routine. It is important to me that I can remain comfortable in my own home, maintain as much independence as possible and have someone who is happy to take their time and support me at my own pace.

My wife has dementia and can sometimes have challenging days, so someone who is patient, understanding and calm would be a great fit. I have a lovely, supportive family who are involved in my care and help manage my medication.

I am hoping to find a small, friendly team of PAs who can get to know me and my routine, helping me feel comfortable and well cared for.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Morning visit around 8/8.30am to 9/9.30am for 1 hour: Helping me with a full body wash, as I am unable to use the bath or shower, assisting me with getting dressed and supporting me with continence care, including my gallbladder bag.

Teatime visits around 4.30pm to 5.30pm – for 1 hour: Preparing and serving my evening meal and assisting with personal care.

Visits are needed Monday to Sunday, with times and working arrangements to be discussed and agreed. We are looking for a small team of PAs to share the visits and provide consistent support throughout the week.

Person Specification

Friendly, caring and dependable.

Patient, gentle and understanding.

Happy to help with personal care and continence care.

Respectful of my privacy, dignity and independence.

Ideally experienced in supporting someone living with dementia, as my wife may sometimes need a little extra understanding and patience.

Happy to work as part of a small team to help provide reliable care.

A driver, as the location means travelling by car is necessary.

Previous experience in palliative care would be helpful, but being a kind, compassionate person who genuinely wants to make a difference is just as important.

Terms

Hourly rate: £13.45 per hour.

Mileage: 45p per mile.

Days: Monday to Sunday.

Visit times: To be arranged.

If you are a caring person who would like to make a positive difference to someone's day, I would love to hear from you. The right person will help me feel supported, comfortable and able to enjoy life at home with my wife.
