Head of Operations

Salary: £56,107 - £63,165

Location: Dunfermline

Fife Sports & Leisure Trust provides facilities and services to encourage sport, recreation, and physical activity within Fife's communities. As a not-for-profit organisation limited by guarantee, it reinvests any surplus funds into enhancing facilities and services for the local population. The organisation positively impacts communities by creating opportunities for people in Fife to engage in more frequent physical activity. This is facilitated through its estate of fourteen sports centres, swimming pools, outdoor facilities, and an athletics centre.

As a member of the Executive Management Team, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, working closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, along with the Executive Management Team, to shape and implement the company's overall growth strategy as it continues to embark on transformational change. You will be a key decision-maker within the organisation, ensuring the company maximises its performance across various business aspects, including the consistent and successful service management of all venues.

Your responsibilities will include managing and leading section managers to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to service delivery across 14 venues, driving cultural shifts in response to customer needs, and ensuring compliance with the Services Agreement between Fife Council and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust. You will also seek opportunities to enhance income streams working in partnership with our Sales and Commercial Development section. Additionally, you will lead corporate reviews to deliver improvements and efficiencies and provide professional leadership and support to the senior management team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic management and operational leadership and the ability to drive major organisational change projects. You will be responsible for setting and maintaining high standards of conduct and performance, supporting employee development, managing budgets, and fostering strong relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

Degree in Leisure Management or equivalent

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Standard Disclosure from Disclosure Scotland

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

Undertake responsibilities at an Executive Management Team level, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Work closely with the Chief Executive and the Board of Directors to develop and deliver the Company’s overall strategy and be a key decision maker within the organisation. 

Manage and lead the allocated section managers to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach to the delivery of operational services.  

Lead a cultural shift within key functions of the business in response to the needs of its customers 

In accordance with the Services Agreement between Fife Council and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, ensure that a range of services are provided from Sport and Leisure Centres that support the outcomes of Fife Councils Sports and Leisure reform. 

Lead and motivate a senior management team and the wider workforce to deliver high standards of performance and achievement. 

Plan, develop, initiate and implement change and constant improvements to ensure effective service delivery and achievement of financial and usage targets for business functions within the Head of Operations remit. 

Develop strong and effective working relationships with Fife Council, local communities and external organisations where such links are of benefit to the Company. 

Provide support and advice on the management, development and implementation of performance management systems for the collection, provision and dissemination of performance information. 

Ensure that adequate provision and resources are made for health, safety, and welfare arrangements at the planning and programming stages of all projects and activities.

Experience of managing customer relationships at a senior level to ensure corporate operational management support is informed and adds value.

Substantial knowledge and experience in:
