Personal Assistant required- Southside Glasgow
About Leah
Leah is a fun, friendly and sociable 15-year-old who is looking for a Personal Assistant to support her to enjoy greater independence both at home and within her community.
Leah has a great personality and loves having a laugh and a chat. She has lots of interests, including Harry Potter, anime, trains, lifts and drawing. She enjoys getting out and about, visiting different places and attending social activities and events.
About the Role
A big part of this role is supporting Leah to become more independent and to access the things she wants to do.
Some days might involve heading out somewhere Leah has chosen, attending a social event or activity, shopping, or simply spending time at home doing something she enjoys.
The role is about supporting Leah to make choices, build confidence and participate in everyday life in a way that works for her.
Support Required
Leah is a wheelchair user and requires support with all aspects of personal care, including stoma care. The role also involves manual handling.
Full training will be provided for both stoma care and manual handling, so previous care experience is not essential.
Who We Are Looking For
For this role, finding the right person is far more important than previous care experience.
We would love to hear from people who are reliable, committed and willing to learn.
Leah would suit someone who is:
- Fun and friendly
- Patient and confident
- Reliable and committed
- Willing to learn
- Able to encourage independence while offering support when needed
We want someone who sees Leah as the teenager she is and supports her to live her life in her own way.
Hours and Rate of Pay
- Approximately 14-16 hours per week
- Hours mainly after school across two days (flexibility available)
- Some weekend support required
- Additional hours may be available during school holidays
- Rate of pay: £13.50
Additional Information
While a driving licence would be beneficial, it is not essential. We don't want this to discourage the right person from applying.
Interested?
If you are reliable, committed and looking for a role where you can build a great relationship with a young person while supporting her independence at home and in the community, we'd love to hear from you.
