We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our valuation team and develop a career in property surveying and valuation.

Working as part of a professional team, you will assist in the survey and valuation of a wide range of domestic and non-domestic properties. The role provides varied practical experience, including inspecting and measuring new and altered properties, preparing floor plans and survey reports, calculating floor areas, assisting with valuations and maintaining property information reports.

You will also have the opportunity to liaise with developers and property occupiers, deal with enquiries from Council Tax payers and ratepayers, and assist valuation staff with more complex properties and work associated with revaluations and proposals.

Applicants will preferably hold a property-related HND or equivalent qualification and should be confident in the use of computer systems. However, we are also keen to hear from applicants without formal surveying qualifications who can demonstrate an interest in property and a willingness to develop their surveying and valuation skills. Applicants lacking surveying qualifications will be placed initially on a lower salary scale of £27,671 - £29,292.

The post would particularly suit someone with an interest in property who enjoys a combination of practical site-based work and home/office-based technical work, and who is keen to develop their knowledge and experience within a professional valuation environment.

The posts are available on a permanent basis and are open to suitably qualified applicants seeking either full-time or part-time hours. Where a post has more than one salary scale, the successful candidate will be appointed on the appropriate scale, taking account of their relevant experience.

Application packs can be downloaded from our website using the link here or requested by email from recruitment@grampian-vjb.gov.uk

For informal enquiries about the posts, please contact Danielle Chambers, Executive Assistant, in the first instance on 01224 068394 or by email at d.chambers@grampian-vjb.gov.uk

Note

  • All applicants should have excellent communication and team working skills together with a flexible approach and outlook.

  • All posts are permanent contracts and salaries are based on a 36.25 hour working week, worked Monday to Friday.

  • Our staff are currently working on a blended home/office basis.

  • On occasions, such as the approach to a statutory deadline, annual leave may be restricted and there may be a requirement to work additional hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

  • Disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post are guaranteed an interview.

  • Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Level 1 Disclosure Check.
