Position Type: Permanent, Full Time (36.25 hours per week) or Part Time also available. 

Salary etc: £40,640 – £43,618 or £47,803 – £50,989 p.a. depending on experience plus Essential Car User Allowance, Pension Scheme & Flexible/Home Working.  Relocation package up to £6,480.

We are looking for motivated Chartered Surveyors to join our professional valuation team and work across a diverse range of domestic and non-domestic properties.

This is a varied and rewarding role offering the opportunity to develop experience across the full range of local taxation valuation work. You will undertake property inspections and surveys, prepare valuations for Rating and Council Tax purposes, analyse sales, rental and cost evidence, and maintain property information records.

The role also provides the opportunity to deal directly with ratepayers, Council Tax payers and professional agents, including the discussion and negotiation of valuations. You will prepare appeal cases and may present valuation evidence as an expert witness before valuation Tribunals.

Previous experience of local taxation valuation is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from Chartered Surveyors with relevant experience gained in private practice or other valuation environments, particularly those with a background in commercial or residential property who are interested in applying their skills in a new professional setting.

We also welcome applications from graduate surveyors who have not yet completed their RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), providing an opportunity to develop their professional experience while working towards Chartered Surveyor status. The salary scale for Graduate surveyors is £36,474 - £38,944

The post offers considerable variety, from inspecting new and altered properties to researching and valuing more complex subjects and analysing market evidence. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain their professional development and, as experience grows, contribute to the training and supervision of trainee valuation staff.

The posts are available on a permanent basis and are open to suitably qualified applicants seeking either full-time or part-time hours. Where a post has more than one salary scale, the successful candidate will be appointed on the appropriate scale, taking account of their relevant experience.
