Job Identity
Job Title: Personal Assistant (Personal Care)
Location of Job: Buckie
Term: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period
Working Hours: Up to 18 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 3 hour periods between 3.30pm and 6:30pm, other shifts to be agreed with the employer
Rate of Pay
£16.88
Job Purpose and Way of Working
To provide support in the home for a 3-year-old child living with their parents and siblings who has complex health care needs.
The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:
· Support and take direction from the child’s parents.
· Provide the parents opportunity to spend meaningful time as a family without their caring role
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
The successful applicant must:
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
· Caring, compassionate and respectful approach
· Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence
· Good communication and listening skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
· Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support
· Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family
· Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals
Preferred Qualities and Experience
· Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer
· Experience supporting individuals with disabilities
· Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
· Moving and handling experience or training
· Knowledge of the local area
· Ability to support individuals to appointments, hobbies, and social activities
· Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills
· Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required
· Comfortable working in a family home environment
Additional Information
Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.
Training
Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer. This will include Child Support and Protection.
