Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location of Job: Buckie
Term: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period
Working Hours: 4 hours per week during term time, increasing to 8 hours per week during school holidays.
1 hour per day over 4 days, Monday – Friday days to be agreed. Increasing to 2 hours a day during school holidays.
Rate of Pay
£13.45
Job Purpose and Way of Working
Provide assistance to a young child. In the first instance support will be provided in the family home with a view that once a trusting relationship has been developed, support will happen out with the home to gain access to activities within the community and to support her to spend time with peers.
The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:
· Daily care, including personal care, toileting, food preparation, medication/nutrition via PEG, routines, emotional regulation and safety. limited awareness of danger, including road safety and stranger awareness, and therefore requires close supervision at home, school and in the community. She thrives on routine and can become anxious or dysregulated when routines change, particularly during school holidays or transitions.

Essential Requirements
The successful applicant must:
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
· Caring, compassionate and respectful approach
· Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence
· Good communication and listening skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
· Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support
· Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family
· Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals

Preferred Qualities and Experience
· Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer
· Experience supporting children with complex needs
· Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
· Moving and handling experience or training
· Knowledge of the local area
· Ability to support individuals to appointments, hobbies, and social activities
· Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills
· Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required
· Comfortable working in a family home environment
Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.
Training
Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer.
