Job Identity

 

Job Title:                         Personal Assistant (Personal Care)

 

Location of Job:              Fochabers (rural)

 

Term:                               Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period

 

Working Hours:               Relief cover only

 

                                        AM and LT shifts Monday - Friday

 

Rate of Pay

 

£16.88

 

             

Job Purpose and Way of Working

 

To support an elderly gentleman living in his own home within a rural setting near Fochabers. Access to own car will be required as the property is not accessible by public transport.

 

         The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:

 

·      Assisting with meal preparation ensuring fluid and nutrition needs are met

·      Assist with personal care tasks where required

·      Assist with incontinence laundry

·      Support to socially engage providing unpaid carer respite


Person Specification

 

    Essential Requirements

 

    The successful applicant must:

 

·      Reliable, punctual and trustworthy

·      Caring, compassionate and respectful approach

·      Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence

·      Good communication and listening skills

·      Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

·      Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support

·      Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family

·      Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals

    

 

 

 

 

Preferred Qualities and Experience

 

 

·      Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer

·      Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, dementia, mobility difficulties

·      Understanding of safeguarding and adult protection practices

·      Moving and handling experience or training

·      Knowledge of the local area

·      Ability to support individuals to appointments, hobbies, and social activities

·      Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills

·      Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required

·      Comfortable working in a family home environment

 

    Additional Information

 

·      Own transport will be required  

 

Supervision and reporting relationships

 

Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.

 

 

Training

 

Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer. This will include adult support and protection

.

References and the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
